Currently reading Clive Hirchhorn’s biography on Gene and I’m really really liking it.

But I had to calm myself a little when Gene, though hidden in a compliment, basically calls Judy obese when talking about the Portland Fancy scene in Summer Stock.

A little chubby, yes. Overweight, maybe. Obese, no.

(Just to make it clear though - in the same quote he calls her dancing “nothing short of amazing”. The weight comment just rubbed me the wrong way.)
